2. Know the Numbers
A low mark up will make you loose money on the first sale, a mark up too high will lead to no sales. Try having a 3 to 1 mark up or even a 4 to 1. This will ensure you make money on your first sale.
How many sales do you need to cover your daily business expenses.
Each dollar spent in advertising should return at least 3 dollars.
Give everyone a reason to buy right now.
Get the name and contact information of each customers or prospects so you can sell them something else.
3. Use Powerful Headlines
Your headlines are a powerful tool, this is the first thing your prospects see. Therefore make sure it grabs their attention immediately. You only have a few seconds to do it or they pass over.
4. Don't Give up!
Most people stop after the first bump on the road, which is the exact opposite of most successful home business owner. Some of them have went through 1 or 2 bankruptcies before they became millionaires, their secret "never stop". Learn from your mistakes, as it is part of the learning curve.
5. Stay in good physical & mental shape
Some people will work themselves to death. If you are one of them, you will have to learn to take some time for yourself. You will only benefit from that, as it will renew your energy and help you be more creative.
6. Get people to assist you
You don't know everything, no one does. Successful business people admit their strengths and weaknesses. They get assistance whenever it is required without feeling shame. Get help from other successful people if you need to. Most of them will provide their assistance - it's part of giving back.
7. Manage your time
If you're like most people, you waste a lot of time. To be efficient and become successful in a home based business or any other you must, I will say it again "you MUST prioritize" your time.

8. Always keep name of prospects and customers
In general you make more money on the second run than the initial one because your customers have already been paid for, either by previous advertising or other effort to promote. If they have already purchased from you, they will again and even refer your business to others.
9. Always negotiate
Why? Well if you never ask, you will never get better prices. However, you have to know when to walk away from negotiation. For you and your customer negotiation is a good thing. When everyone is happy business can last for a very long time. If you loose money because you want to please your customers, on the long run you will not be happy and your business will suffer from it. On the other hand, if your customers pay too much, they will go somewhere else. So if both sides are happy, business is great.
10. Be innovative
If you can understand your customers' point of view and have them do business with you, you're in the game. To do so, you have to be willing to understand their sides, what they think, and what they want. You don't have to be a super creative person, but thinking of ways to do things better, you then have an advantage on your competition.
11. Educate your customers
Tell people why they need your services or products. Give them specifics and let them exactly know how to acquire your products.
Inform them about the warranty and the quality of your products/services in comparison to your competitors. Better your information, the better chance you have to succeed.
12. Be a leader
What is most needed in the today's industry are LEADERS; yes, great leaders. A lot of people are not organized and they run around in circle, dissipating their energies to produce absolutely nothing.
If you want to be a leader you will have to organize every activities of your home based business, focusing on time management and income producing activities.
Often, you will have to get out of your comfort zone, either by meeting new people, being face to face in public situation, even learning new things. If you are comfortable then your goals are not set high enough. See a bigger picture and take action. You will succeed.
13. Act according to your dreams
Most people go through life without any goal or aspiration. Sure, they all want the brand new car, the big house, a lot of money and yet they go nowhere. If you want to achieve your dreams and live life with passion, you have to focus on them and have a clear vision of what you want.
Fear will be a passenger on your side, trying its best to stop you at succeeding in your home based business. This is simply your conscious mind trying to protect you from danger. More actions you will take, the more confident you will become and with time, you will learn to control your fears and make them part of your daily decisions. Once, a well known actor said in an interview "Don't expect things to happen, Go For It!"
14. Visualize your results
For a lot of people it seems ridiculous to focus on things that you can't have or cost too much. I have learned the power of the subconscious mind and its application in the business world. It's so powerful if used properly it will make your dreams come true.
